It’s very good and it captures a lot of the feeling of adventure that Zelda is famous for. I recommend this game to fans of Link’s Awakening and adventure games in general.
By this point, you might even already expect it. Still, it follows the trend put forth from LttP and focuses more on story, so it’s more linear.
You still have have to rescue some girl from certain doom, but you still get to meet several different supporting characters.
In this Oracles, each screen of the overworld has a different tile set to reflect the season, which is a very neat touch, even if it is the point of the game. There’s a lot of new sprite work, though and it makes the game feel nicer and more vivid than Link’s Awakening. It’s all basically lifted straight from Link’s Awakening. Buy a GBA because THEN you can buy Minish Cap (My 5th fav game in the series), and Oracle of Ages/Seasons. There’s not much to say about the graphics. It was quite impressive for me to hear some pieces from Ocarina of Time in here! It mostly recycles the items from Link’s Awakening, although it still introduces a lot of new ones, like the Cape.Ī lot of the sound effects and soundtrack are recycled from previous Zelda games. You can’t attack while keeping your shield up. You can’t combine items (so no bomb arrows) and characters now seem to have an extra z coordinate (so you can’t defeat enemies that are hovering around you without jumping). This game is the counterpart to Oracle of Ages and both are required to play through the final segment of the story. In this case, the base was Link’s Awakening, although there are various changes to the engine.
